    YA2010 Speaker Stephen Siemens:Stephen&family_web

Taking the path least traveled by has made all in the difference in Stephen’s life.  From touring Canada coast to coast in a donated motor home in order to encourage the church with music and Scripture, to being drawn to the absolute restorative and forgiving One, Jesus, and to being challenged to find Him already at work in people and places you’d never imagine.

When Stephen was entering his fourth year at Bethany College, he wanted something truly “outside of the box” for an internship.  Working alongside those at Mennonite Central Committee in their Restorative Justice program in Saskatoon, offered just that.  Now Stephen is a staff member of MCC and is regularly encountering those who have been trying to piece their life back together in the aftermath of violence and victimization, those suffering from addictions, mental health, FAS, learning how complicated the gang situation in our cities is, all the while trying to catch cues from the Holy Spirit as to how to be a bridge to this world and the local church.  “People on the outside are dying for genuine relationship… and I think we are starting to wake up to God’s invitation to join him already at work in people lives, giving us the nudge to know him deeper as we set out to engage in mutually transformative relationships.”

Stephen is also learning about the beauty about parenting with the birth of his daughter, Amaya, this past spring, and functioning on much less sleep.  He is also continually getting to know his loving wife Alli, who is his best friend by far.

Stephen thoroughly enjoys anything played on the electric guitar from the1980’s, any form of (motor) cycling, laughter, drama, learning about history and treasuring embarrassing moments with his wife (and practically anyone else) in public.
